My first digital still-life. I dont dig still lifes anymore, its like doing standards sometimes, but this was an in-class quickie assignment for my "digital painting" class, with Sam Gephardt, which has completely started to warp my abilities more than most any class Ive taken here.(we moved on right away to landscapes) I guess it was my first from-scratch digital painting where i had to mix all the paints n shtuff, and I really should start with the basics if i know whats good for me in this new digital world. Its so awesome being able to mix paints and bust out a painting in five minutes with photoshop that would have taken half an hour or more, plus a mess, in oils. I cant believe i resisted computers for art for so long...better late than never though, right?

I took some photos of my best buddy Becky and photoshopped this little retro experiment. I framed an appropriately folded and frayed cut-out of it for her birthday, and added some real coffee cup stains that you dont see in this version. she loved it- 2010

Made for a creature design class. I didnt know a single thing about photoshop until then and he was a great instructor. the piece even recieved "best of term" at school and then a great spot in the student art show. (http://www.gnomongallery.com/shows/2010/gnomon-student/index.php.)
